Comprehensive Analysis of Voltage Stability with Integration of Wind Power Generation: Evaluating the Impact on Power System Parameters

The growing demand for energy worldwide and the urgency to combat climate change have compelled the power and energy sector to prioritize renewable energy sources (RES) as a means of generating electricity. Wind power generation (WPG) has become increasingly significant in recent times. This study explores the influence of progressively higher WPG penetration on voltage stability and various power system parameters across different load scenarios. The integration of wind power generation is implemented at the weakest bus in the IEEE-14 bus standard test system. The investigation involves incrementally increasing the penetration levels of WPG from 0% to 100% in 10% intervals, while also considering variations in the loading parameter (λ). The AC power flow calculations are conducted using the Newton-Raphson (NR) method, which is implemented in MATLAB. Furthermore, the MATLAB program is employed to evaluate voltage stability indices and other power grid parameters in this study. The specific findings of this study provide evidence to support the idea that a low level of WPG at a single node yields beneficial outcomes and shows positive effects on the performance of the power grid. This paper presents promising results.
