Research on Total Radiation Dose Detection by Chromaticity Based on Radiochromic Film

A new total dose detection system for space radiation has been developed, based on radiochromic film. This system allows for real-time online monitoring and distributed multi-point detection of space radiation dose. The discovery of the radiation discoloration effect has enabled the use of radiation discoloration film for total radiation dose detection. However, most current methods for detecting total radiation dose using radiation discoloration film are offline, which poses a challenge when it comes to achieving distributed detection and online real-time monitoring. The radiochromic film will undergo a color change after exposure to high-energy particles or rays, and the intensity of the color change is directly related to the radiation dose. To establish the correlation between the depth of color change in the film and the total radiation dose, a chromaticity detection method was employed, based on the principles of digital colorimetry theory and the RGB color space. The RGB value of the film was used to characterize the absorbed total radiation dose. A specific probe structure was designed and detailed, and ultraviolet irradiation experiments were conducted to validate the effectiveness of the total radiation dose detection method.
