Study on the Capacity Measurement Method of Large LNG Film Tanks

As a new type of storage tank for LNG, large LNG film tanks have been built on a large scale in China in recent years. The two 220,000 m3 film tanks built in Nangang Industrial Zone of Tianjin Economic Development Zone are the first LNG film tanks built in China and the largest in the world on land. However, due to the complex internal structure, huge volume and ultra-low temperature working condition of LNG storage tanks, the accuracy of their capacity measurement is difficult to be effectively guaranteed. This paper introduces two methods for capacity measurement of large LNG thin-film tanks according to their structural characteristics, solving the problem of precision measurement of thin-film structures in large space dimensions. The research results surface that the methods can achieve fast and accurate volume measurement of thin-film tanks, which has important guiding significance for capacity measurement of LNG thin-film tanks.
