Design of 25W S Band Power Amplifier for RADAR Applications

The design process for a 25 W S-band highly efficient power amplifier is presented in this paper. The proposed amplifier design is constructed using Wilkinson power combiner which gives drain efficiency of 90.5%, PAE of 88.5% and small signal gain of 18.9dB at 2.4 GHz. The proposed design combines two 12.8W power amplifiers each which provides drain efficiency of 64.7%, PAE of 61% and small signal gain of 15.9dB. This uses Wolfspeed-CREE CGH40010F device. Using the software tool Advanced Design System (ADS), the proposed power amplifier design is simulated.
