Optimization of the Multi-Element Line Array by the Amplitude of Radiation Pattern

The 3D multielement system forming the electromagnetic field in far zone is build as a linear array of the semitransparent inclined mirrors. The systems geometry meets a quasi-optical condition. The separate mirrors of system are placed in a Fresnel zone, and the radiation pattern (RP) of the whole system is considered in its far zone. In order to simplify the solution of the direct electrodynamical problem, the separation of variables is supposed in the apertures of arrays. The above allows to derive the close formulas for the fields in the arrays of system and the total RP. The optimization problem consists of maximization of functional presenting weighted cross product of the given and created amplitude RPs. The opposite direction method is basic of the functional’s optimization. The computations demonstrate the ability to achieve the high-quality approximation to the desired RP.
