Variable-inductance/capacitance-based Control Strategy for on-road EV with Constant Power Wireless Charging

The endurance time of electric vehicles is one of the urgent problems to be solved, and on-road charging technique can well alleviate this problem. However, during the driving process on the road, the energy transfer coils inevitably become misaligned resulting in the variations of coupling coefficient, which will lead to circuit detuning and output power fluctuating, and the output power is not controllable. In order to achieve a stable power output, this paper proposes a control strategy based on variable inductance/capacitance for constant power charging of on-road wireless electric vehicles. The power controllability of the dynamic wireless system can be achieved by variable inductance and variable capacitance when the coupling coefficient is varied from 0.08 to 0.28.
