The benefits of smart4RES predictive analytics

With the growing penetration of RES in the distribution grid, Distribution System Operators (DSOs) need to implement predictive strategies to manage local congestions and voltage constraints under the uncertainty of RES production and load. Smart4RES proposes a data-driven approach for predictive management of electrical grids, a decision aid tool that integrates RES forecast uncertainty in electrical grid management and flexibility management. This paper presents a cost-benefit analysis (CBA) methodology to compare the use of flexibility to solve technical problems, with the Smart4RES tool, against traditional grid reinforcement. The CBA aims to determine whether the predictive grid management is the cost-optimal solution for solving network technical problems and improving network technical aspects.
