TNB distribution network's asset management strategy future outlook through advanced asset analytics

With the increasing demand for higher supply reliability and security while pushing for a sustainable energy solution through energy transition, TNB Distribution Network has embarked on digitalization and data analytics initiatives through its Smart Utility 2025 Masterplan and TNB Sustainability Pathway 2050 framework. One of the initiatives, which is Advanced Asset Analytics (AAA), refers to the technology of performing real-time, accurate and predictive analysis on the assets to provide better insights into asset performance metrics such as asset health, criticality, and risk indices. This paper will describe TNB DN's experience in deploying the AAA initiative, installing Internet-of-Things (IoT) sensors, and establishing its analytics engine, including the benefits, case study and future improvement plan that takes into account constant technological advancement.
