Harmonic resonances analysis methods in power distribution networks

In the paper, two methods of analysing harmonic resonance states in power system are presented and compared. First, a conventional method (the so-called nodal impedance method) is presented, the use of which is very well-established nowadays, but the results are often not accurate, due to the shortcomings of the method, which are also presented in the paper. In response to the limitations of the conventional method, a more advanced method is presented, which is based on modal analysis. The method enables more accurate and reliable analysis of the resonant states of the network. Both methods are compared on an example of a distribution network.
