Analytical Approach to Evaluating the Performance of the OpenFlow Protocol on Software Defined Networks

This work proposes an analytical approach to evaluating OpenFlow performance applied on Software Defined Networks (SDNs). The method can quickly estimate packet waiting time in a controller domain, addressing real world SDN challenges. The effectiveness of the method is demonstrated quantitatively, making it a valuable tool for SDN system designers to improve a network's quality of service. The approach assumes uniform traffic conditions and a variety of offered loads, highlighting the importance of testing under various conditions.
