Low-Cost Anesthesia Machine Using IoT

Anesthesia plays a substantial role in the part of pain relief during medical procedures. In general, during medical operations, the administration of anesthesia depends on the medical parameters of the cardiovascular function of the patient. In the present-day scenario, anesthetist controls the operation manually where they administer a few milliliters of anesthesia per stipulated time suitable for the requirement. Under cases where an anesthetist is unable to administer the level of anesthesia during the period of medical surgery, the patient may not undergo a successful pain-free medical surgery. In a typical anesthesia administration, two of the most important biomedical parameters are heartbeat and temperature. To solve this problem, the proposed system comprises of a micro-controlled based anesthesia device, which is methodical, and structured. The biomedical data received by the sensors is sent to the microcontroller which is a deciding factor for the amount of Anesthesia that needs to be injected periodically. In the absence of an anesthesia specialist the biomedical data can be viewed in an IOT platform “thingspeak”, throughout the medical procedure, outside of the intensive care unit. The DC motor driven by the microcontroller controls the infusion pump to administer the anesthesia levels per hour.
