Designing of Hybrid Controllers for Improved Gain Converter for EV Application

The DC-DC converters play a significant role in Electric Vehicles (EVs) battery charging application. The existing DC-DC converters have generated high gain with more voltage stress in the semiconductor device and poor output voltage regulation and load changes especially for classical PI control. To rectify these issues, a hybrid controller (HC) for switch-improved gain DC-DC converter with reduced voltage stress in semiconductor is proposed. Boost converter with integration of quadratic boost converter (BCIQBO). The hybrid controller consists of a combination of Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) and Linear PI controllers, which are used to regulate output voltage of BCIQBC. The BCIQBC performance with HC is validated under various operating conditions such as line and load variations. The outcomes are then presented in relation to the efficiency of the designed controller for the same converter. The proposed model is better suitable for electric vehicles battery charging application. The main benefits of the proposed converter are its high gain, low switching loss, small conduction loss, low cost and small voltage stress.
