Fabrication of Thermoelectric Ribbon-Shaped Fe3Al Alloys with Large Anomalous Nernst Effect

Al alloys were fabricated into a ribbon shape using a planar flow casting method. Ribbon-shaped Fe
3
Al alloys were annealed in an argon atmosphere to improve the anomalous Nernst effect. After annealing at 573–1173 K, the anomalous Nernst coefficient reached 3.2 (or more) µV/K, which is close to that of previously reported Fe
3
Al polycrystals (4.0 µV/K). Ribbon-shaped Fe
3
Al alloys exhibited sufficient toughness and could be wrapped around a pipe-shaped heat source.
