Design of a Filter Using Acoustic Resonator for Wi-Fi Applications

This research shows the designing of filter using Film Bulk Acoustic Wave Resonator (FBAR) at 2.46 GHz for Wi-Fi application. The resonator modelling is carried out using the frequency domain analysis of single resonator. The designing of filter is done using ladder topology. 3

order filter designs are compared with a variety of factors, including bandwidth, reflection loss (S

). Acoustic resonator's RF band-pass filter response is measured using ADS software. The bandwidth, insertion loss, and reflection loss of third order filter are 66MHz. 1.1dB and 27.3dB, whereas bandwidth, reflection loss, and return loss of a fifth order filter are 59 MHz, 2.3dB and 20.51dB, respectively.
