Optimal design of an off-grid hybrid system using HOMER Pro

The shift towards the green power technology has been increasing rapidly because renewable resources provide pollution free energy. HOMER Pro is employed for the optimal designing of off-grid hybrid renewable energy system (HRES) which has solar, wind and battery with a conventional energy source. The design criteria of this paper are to reduce the cost of energy and increase the renewable fraction. It has been observed that PV/WT/DG/ES/Converter is the optimal configuration which contains 484 kW PV, 972 kW WT, 480 kW DG, 1356 kW ES and 375 kW converter. This scenario generates the least COE of 0.282 $/kWh and dump power 806257 kWh with zero unmet load. A brief analysis of optimal combination of HRES has been carried out.
