Spectral Efficiency of Different Diversity Combiners Under Log-Normal Shadowing Channels- A Review

This paper evaluates the Channel capacity under log-normal condition. The channel capacity is evaluated using Optimum Rate Adaptation under constant transmit power (ORA). Closed form expression for ORA was evaluated under No-Branch Diversity and M-Branch Diversity using Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC) and Equal Gain Combining (EGC). Fenton’s Method was used to evaluate expression of mean and standard deviation of instantaneous Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) for MRC and EGC combiner under log-normal shadowing.
