Application of canopy clustering for categorization of states based on crime against children

Crimes on children may take place from home to school or online or anyplace. In recent times, there is a rise in crimes against children aided by digital technology, such as online sexual exploitation, sextortion and cyberbullying. These forms of crimes can spread to huge audience or can go unreported by parents & care takers and hence these can be mostly dangerous. Although the crime data merely covers the number of crime cases reported during several years in all states, cluster approach can be applied to group states in India based on rate of crime cases against children. In this paper, canopy cluster methodology is applied in WEKA platform to find trends & patterns in crime data and categorize all Indian states depend on crime cases against children which may help to build effective interventions to mitigate and control crimes against children.
