A Efficient Adaptive Data Rate Algorithm in LoRaWAN Networks: K-ADR

LoRa has become one of the hottest technologies in low-power and wide area networks due to its exclusive characteristics, and the resulting protocol standard LoRaWAN has attracted widespread attention and research from scholars. Under stable link conditions, LoRaWAN utilizes the ADR mechanism to set appropriate transmission parameters for end devices and improve network performance. However, in practical applications, due to the complexity of the external environment, link conditions are easily unstable due to interference, which greatly affects the performance of the standard ADR algorithm. Therefore, with the help of the commonly used Ordinary Kriging function in spatial information statistics, an efficient ADR algorithm called Kriging ADR (K-ADR) is proposed. This algorithm can accurately perceive link conditions, dynamically adjust terminal transmission parameters, and ensure the reliability and scalability of the network in harsh communication environments. Numerous simulations have shown that the proposed algorithm is significantly superior to the standard ADR algorithm, and even compared to relevant excellent algorithms, it also has advantages in packet delivery ratio and energy consumption.
