Engineering Study of Rooftop Photovoltaic “Study Case in Elementary School, Jakarta”

Government has decided to develop renewable energy for ensure the mix energy target 23% in 2025 can be realized. The government regulations based on Perpres No. 22 Year 2007 or Presidential Regulation No. 22 Year 2007, Rencana Umum Energi Nasional (RUEN) or National General Energy Plan, mentioned that 30% of rooftop capacity government building must be installed for rooftop photovoltaic. Furthermore the electricity energy price will increase year by year because the more expensive of fuel price the more expensive of energy price. In Indonesia most of the power plant still use fossil fuel such as coal, gas and MFO (Marine Fuel Oil), which is the fuel price is getting more expensive year by year also the CO2 emission issue become serious problem in future. Hence, rooftop photovoltaic modeling has needed for not only government building but also residential building in order to give solution for electricity energy problem and reduce fossil fuel for electricity supply. The objective of this paper is to analyze the engineering design and study the economic rooftop photovoltaic in school building. This research will give some contribution for electricity customer in industry scale and residential scale, how the photovoltaic can be installed and what the advantage for use this system. Some method will be used for initiating this research i.e literature study from previous research, collect data research and use the software to analyze the data. Software homer will be used to give some consideration about decision making for the technical and economical study. Monthly cost of electricity saving for this school about Rp 1.960.000 or 51,6 % from previous tariff without using rooftop photovoltaic system.
