A Preliminary Result of Lightning Peak Current Measurement in Cilacap at Central Java, Indonesia

There is a lot of lightning in Indonesia. Many lightning strike-related incidents have resulted in harm and destruction. Research on lightning peak currents was conducted in the maritime tropical continent region, including Cilacap, in order to limit potential damage in the future. Some cases related tank explosions in Cilacap (Central Java, Indonesia) triggers the research about lightning peak current statistic. According to the statistics, there is a 50% probability of a lightning event that Cilacap will have a lightning peak current of 18 kA. National and international lightning protection standards can be developed using local statistics from this study.
