Thermostically Controlled Loads Control Strategy Based on State Estimator for Microgrid

The fluctuation of microgrid frequency is a crucial indicator of power quality. Small frequency fluctuations can impact electricity usage, while large fluctuations can jeopardize generator operation. For the problem of frequency and power fluctuation in the operation of microgrid, this paper proposes using a Kalman filter to predict the optimal state of thermostatically controlled loads(TCLs) power variation, and subsequently using a distributed consistency algorithm to assign power to grouped TCLs. Finally, a temperature control method with time limits is employed for each group of TCLs according to the assigned power to regulate temperature. Simulation results validate the effectiveness of this approach in reducing grid frequency fluctuation and improving temperature control accuracy.
