Development of a Human Hand Driven Energy Harvester based on Halbach Magnetic Array

This paper designs an electromagnetic energy harvesting device based on Halbach array to collect the electrical energy generated during human finger movement. The existing energy harvesting technologies used for vibration energy harvesting are summarized, and the work principles of the Halbach array and the structure of the energy harvesting device are analyzed. The finite element simulation is used to observe Halbach's magnetic field line distribution and compare the magnetic field strength of the Halbach array and the traditional array. The vibration platform is used to measure the output voltage and output power under excitation. The motion frequencies of each finger are different, and the maximum frequency of the index finger movement is about 6 Hz. The output voltage generated by the device increased with the frequency. When frequency reaches 6Hz, the peak-to-peak voltage on the index finger is about 0.24V. The experimental results conclusively establish the effectiveness of the electromagnetic energy harvesting device employing the Halbach Array to scavenge human kinetic energy. This cutting-edge technology proves to be a dependable and sustainable source of electric power for various low power consumption devices, particularly wearable sensors.
