Analysis of the Influence of Transformer on the Reactive Power Output Capability of Condenser

The condenser connected to the power grid (PG) through the transformer will consume some reactive power (RP) on the transformer, which will make the estimation of the reactive power support capacity (RPSC) on the high-voltage side incorrect. Incorrect estimation will lead to insufficient RP support of the condenser in case of failure and affect system stability. Therefore, this paper studies the influence of transformer on the reactive power output (RPO) capability of the condenser. Firstly, the expression of the peak value (PV) of RPO on the high voltage side (HVS) of the condenser during the fault is derived. Then, according to the expression, the parameter conditions for the maximum reactive PV and the extreme value of RPSC at the HVS are analyzed. Finally, the magnitude of RP consumed on the transformer is analyzed, and the difference between the RPO capacity of the condenser and the extreme value of the RPSC at the HVS of the transformer is compared.
