Low Power Consumption in Capacitive Touch Screen Panel by changing scanning rate using equation and AI based proposal

This paper presents an algorithm on power saving of battery in mobile phone through asymmetric scanning of touch panel grids in capacitive touch screens. In proposed algorithm, touch grid area is divided into fixed regions which are passed through asymmetric clock cycles for scanning. For this AI and equation based solution is proposed which will help to get the ratio for uneven clock cycle for scanning. AI uses heat map of old user interaction along with the current interaction on the screen to get the ratio. These ratio changes with more interaction and also they are different for each and every activity. Based on mathematical calculation on an example, proposed algorithm has shown some positive results. The calculations shows that there can be a power saving of up-to 30%, when the proposed algorithm of asymmetric scanning is used with some predefined assumptions on touch screens. This percentage of power saving can vary depending on the ratio provided by the algorithm based on user behavior. This paper also talks about the future work that can be extended in the regard of asymmetric scanning on variable touch regions.
