Skills matching to support Europe’s Blue Economy Skills Passport

Aquaculture represents the most intensive and sustainable food sector for years to come but there is a significant skills shortage in high-skilled jobs. The AGAPE platform fosters the identification of current aquaculture industry needs, matches skills against these needs and provides up-skilling and re-skilling options to close the skills gap. The platform incorporates a skills' matching mechanism that supports the Skills Passport in Aquaculture, a roadmap for assessing current workforce skills and identifying skills required for the near future to remain relevant and competitive. The paper describes the architecture of the AGAPE platform and focuses on the skills’ matching mechanism the platform incorporates. It provides a walkthrough of the main screens and gives an overview of its implementation and supported functionalities.
