On the Impact of Data-Driven Stochastic Load Models on Power System Dynamics

This paper analyzes the impact on the dynamic behavior of power systems of modeling stochastic processes of the load consumption through different probability density functions (PDFs). The statistical properties of the processes modeled on the loads are obtained through the load consumption data measured using micro-synchrophasors ($\mu$PMU’s). Simulation results show that stochastic processes with different PDFs, though similar in statistical properties, lead to different dynamic behaviors. The case study also demonstrates that the stochastic processes affect different power system quantities differently.
