Study on bus noise and vibration with material selected

Noise and Vibration are important problems in automotive design and production process, particularly in passenger bus, where it affects not only the structural integrity of the bus, but also the level of comfort of the passengers. There are multiple factors that affect the noise and vibration behavior of the bus, one of which is the selection of main material for the body.This paper analyzes on the effect of body’s materials to the vehicle's noise and vibration behavior. The analysis is first done on the original steel material, and then repeated using the alternative composite material. The results show that using composite materials which have the function of damping and acoustic absorption are used to reduce noise and vibration and control the vehicle interior noise.
