Proactive Grid Planning for Fleet Electrification

Passenger electric vehicles (EVs) have seen considerable interest and growth recently, but fleet vehicles, including medium- and heavy- duty vehicles (MHDVs), are also poised to become more prevalent in the near future. These vehicles will have larger requirements from the electric grid to charge and, as electric MHDVs scale, there could be impacts on the electric distribution and transmission networks if needs are not anticipated. Utilities should begin developing long-term forecasts of EV load growth and holistic solutions that can meet rapid electrification needs at least cost.
