Abstract:
This paper proposes a wearable Far Ultraviolet C-range (Far UVC) device called AuroraGuard. AuroraGuard is a Far UVC embedding garment that can be used to immobilize harmful microorganisms on demand. When wearing AuroraGuard as a minimally inconvenient and non-obstructive garment, the user is both protected and protecting others from harmful microorganisms due to the "aurora'' of light emitted directly in front of his or her respiratory entrances. The created "aurora" of Far UVC light destroys these microorganisms before they enter the user’s respiratory system in routine situations. Interconnecting such wearable garments utilized by many users in an Internet-of-Things (IoT) fashion can optimize the use of this innovative technology for increased effectiveness and sustainability. The paper discusses the design, implementation and testing of AuroraGuard and outlines possible future perspectives before this interconnected wearable Far UVC technology.
