Design of Inset Fed Z Slot Compact Microstrip Patch Antenna for IoT in Health Care Application

Wireless communication technology plays a vital role in health care application particularly in Internet of Things (IoT) to monitor the real time data of patient in remote location. The proposed article is based on a novel, compact, Z-shaped inset feed microstrip patch antenna with enhanced gain operating at the frequency of 5GHz recommended by Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) standard for IoT based wireless applications. In the proposed research article, a patch antenna that uses Taconic material to construct and Analyze Z-slot antenna is proposed. The proposed antenna work at 5 GHz, which resonates at a frequency 4.9GHz utilized for ultra-wideband applications using CST Studio (Computer Simulation Technology) tools. The Z slot antenna has a wide bandwidth, miniature size, and works well with portable devices. Taconic, a material with a dielectric constant of 2.45, which provide affordable, simple to manufacture, and has a wide variety of dielectric constants. Measurements from the design show that the radiated frequency is 4.9GHz, the return loss is -24.7dB, the gain is 4.43dBi, and the Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) is 1.17.
