Design and Simulation of Microstrip Patch Antenna for Early Breast Cancer Detection

The second-deadliest disease for women is breast cancer. Despite the existence of detecting procedures including mammography, MRI, and ultrasound, there have been numerous cases documented because of tissue divergence. As a result, causality may occur if the breast cancer is not detected at an earlier stage. This paper provides a thorough analysis of early breast cancer detection using microstrip patch antenna. A 3D structure of breast phantom is modelled with and without tumour ranging for different permittivity and conductivity and a microstrip patch antenna at 2.2, 2.4 and 2.6 GHz operating frequency using FR4 dielectric substrate material-based antenna is designed using CST. Simulation results conclude that the proposed design of microstrip patch antenna has return loss of 4 to 7 dB and VSWR of 1.2 to 1.35 which is recommended for fabrication.
