An Efficient Hybrid Method for Time Domain Analysis of Reverberation Chamber

Three-dimension simulation of reverberation chamber (RC) is a reliable approach for RC designing, evaluating and optimizing. In this paper, an efficient hybrid method has been described for time domain analysis of the RC. This hybrid method is composed of finite-element time-domain (FETD) method, the domain decomposition (DD) algorithm and the matrix pencil method (MPM). Since the FETD method is well known for its flexibility in geometrical modeling, the stirrers and antenna contained in the reverberation chamber can be accurately simulated. Combined with DD algorithm, the memory usage is rescued. Moreover, the RC model can be divided into two types: one type is stirrers' subdomains which geometric model is changed; the other is constant subdomains which geometric model is not changed. Compared to conventional RC modeling method, only the stirrer subdomains need to be constructed model, formed matrix and LU factorized the coefficient matrix at each stirrers' rotated angle, the constant subdomains only need to do these operations at the first stirrers' rotated angle. Meanwhile, since the RC is a cavity which has high Q factor, the simulation can be accelerated by the MPM.
