Reconfigurable Spatial Power Dividers Using Phase-Amplitude Metasurface

Reconfigurable multi-beam manipulation is essential for high-capacity communications, yet is still challenging and in its infancy. Here, we employed a double-arc resonator loaded with two kinds of PIN diodes to realize spin-symmetry breaking. An addition theorem of complex reflection coefficients is presented to acquire flexible multi-beam control with arbitrary intensity and direction. For demonstration, a proof-of-concept metasurface is devised and numerically characterized at 5.35 GHz, exhibiting distinct multi-beam radiation with flexible strengths and directions. Our finding of reconfigurable spatial power dividers would be vital for multi-beam radar systems and set up a solid platform for arbitrary reconfigurable devices with simultaneous phase and amplitude modulations.
