Analysis of the Influence of Canopy Layer of Forest Trees on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Signal Transmission

The influence of tree canopy layers on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) signal transmission in forest environments is studied. The stable transmission of signals is very important for the design of reliable wireless communication systems for UAVs. Therefore, a forest model is established to analyze the attenuation of the signal based on the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method. And the attenuation of the signal is analyzed in canopy layers of different thicknesses. The numerical results show that after passing through the canopy, the average attenuation of the signal is 35.32 dB.
