Stochastic Analysis of a Nonuniform Star-Quad Cable with Deformed Structure Along Its Line

A stochastic analysis is performed to investigate the electromagnetic wave coupling with a deformed star-quad cable. It is considered that the star-quad cable is not uniform because the distances between its wires can vary progressively along its line due to any external mechanical stresses. Therefore, the parametric equations of the star-quad cable are generalized by introducing a variable angle along the cable line. Consequently, the random fluctuations of the induced differential-mode current due to the random deformations along the star-quad cable line are studied. It is found that the star-quad cable with fillers has better performance in reducing the external coupling as compared to the one without fillers because the fillers can preserve a balanced geometry along the star-quad cable line.
