Protection Performance Test of HEMP Filter

This paper uses the pulse current injection (PCI) method to test the protection performance of six power line filters against high-altitude nuclear electromagnetic pulse (HEMP). HEMP is injected into their incoming lines and the residual currents data of the corresponding outgoing lines are collected. The collected data is compared by 3 aspects including residual current peak, current rejection ratio and residual current waveform. The test results show that the peak value of residual current is less than 10 Amps(A) when the peak value of injection current of HEMP is 100 A, 500 A, 1000 A, 1800 A and 2500 A. The residual current peak and current suppression ratio are related to injection current peak. The test results provide reference for the protection performance test of HEMP filter.
