EM Scattering Prediction of Complex Targets by SBR and QEM-based Mesh Reduction Algorithm

In this paper, the mesh reduction method based on QEM is combined with Shooting and Bouncing Ray (SBR) algorithm to improve the electromagnetic (EM) scattering computational efficiency of electrically large complex targets. On the premise of not too much loss of model accuracy, the number of triangular facets can be reduced as far as possible with the use of QEM-based mesh reduction technique. On this basis, the SBR method is utilized to calculate the EM scattering of a single aircraft and a three-aircraft formation before and after mesh reduction. Meanwhile, the runtime for a single aircraft and a three-aircraft formation before and after mesh reduction is compared. A good speedup is achieved.
