Parallel Electromagnetic Modeling for Connectors Based on Domain Decomposition Preconditioners

In this paper, we demonstrate the simulation of a high-speed connector by the non-overlapping domain decomposition method (DDM). Subdomain systems are decoupled through the second-order Robin transmission condition (SOTC). Then LU-decomposed sub-systems are applied to the FEM linear system as a preconditioner. Computed S-parameters and crosstalks agree with the results from commercial software. The DDM preconditioned solver greatly reduces the solution time compared to the direct solver, while remaining robust when the number of processes rises.
