Design and Analysis of an Electromagnetic Actuated Microgripper for Biomedical Applications

With the continuous development of materials science, bioengineering and microelectronics industry, higher requirements have been put forward for the precision and efficiency of micro-operation. As a key link connecting micro-¬system and macro-system, microgripper plays an important role in the process of micro-operation. This paper presents an electromagnetic microgripper for the manipulation of oocytes, which is manufactured by 3D printing using biocompatible photosensitive resin as material. The electromagnetic drive part ensures that the microgripper has sufficient resolution to control the tensioning of the gripper end. The microgripper uses a simple lever mechanism to achieve a large output displacement under a small driving current. The jaw of the microgripper is designed in various shapes to be suitable for different occasions. Through finite element simulation and experiments, it is verified that the microgripper can achieve an output displacement of 186μm at a 60mA input current.
