Digitization Noise Elimination from the Guidance Signal of an AESA Missile Seeker

Guidance signal filtering of a strapdown active electronically scanned array (AESA) seeker is essential for guiding a missile towards the target. The guidance signal of an AESA missile seeker is prone to noise contamination due to bit transition and finite resolution of the beam shifter. In the proposed scheme a method of mitigating the noise due to the above effect has been described. In this method an additional path is introduced in the signal processing loop to effectively cancel out the effect of noise. For nominal condition, the proposed method can completely remove the noise from the guidance signal. The performance in the off-nominal conditions is also quite satisfactory. The efficacy of the proposed method is shown for both nominal and off-nominal conditions.
