An Improved Honey Badger Algorithm to Solve Dynamic Economic Dispatch Problems with Valve-Point Loading Effect

The present study reveals an improved version of honey badger algorithm (IHBA) designed to address the challenges posed by valve-point effects in dynamic economic dispatch problems. A new meta-heuristic method called the classical honey badger algorithm (HBA) imitates honey badger hunting behavior. The critical parameters C and B in the HBA are taken as constants but in the proposed IHBA they are varied throughout the iterations that use a sine map to locate the overall best solution. The proposed method’s practicality and efficacy are demonstrated by running it for 24 hours on a 10unit test method. The simulation outcomes derived from the innovative IHBA methodology were evaluated against those obtained from the conventional HBA and other methods documented in the current literature. This was done to showcase the superior performance and effectiveness of the IHBA approach.
