A Review of 5G Technology Application in Digital Smart Grid

In the process of digital transformation of power grids, the 5th generation mobile communication technology (5G) plays a key role in supporting technological innovation in power systems and promoting industry reform due to its characteristics of high bandwidth, high capacity, and low latency. Based on this, this paper introduces the new features of digital smart grid, proposes the new requirements for communication in the digital smart grid, analyzes the application scenario power of 5G communication technology in various aspects of "generation-transmission-transformation-distribution-use" of digital smart grid, and finally presents the challenges and countermeasures for the integration of 5G and power grid.
