Hardware-in-the-loop Simulation System Design of Marine Diesel Engine

The onshore engine room currently serves as the most practical teaching and research platform for marine engineering. However, it faces challenges such as environmental pollution, high construction costs, and difficulties in ensuring personnel safety. To address these issues, this paper establishes a hardware-in-the-loop simulation system for the onshore engine room. The actual diesel engine is replaced with a physical model, offering solutions to many of the traditional engine room problems. Additionally, software integrated with the HIL system is developed to display parameters and diagrams. A GT-Power model is constructed for the diesel engine to simulate its running parameters. The simulation results are compared with diesel engine test reports, and critical parameters like compression pressure and peak pressure exhibit errors of $\leq 5\%$, meeting the simulation requirements. The feasibility of this hardware-in-theloop simulation system is verified, which significantly enhances safety, economic efficiency, and the repeatability of acquiring research data compared to traditional onshore automatic engine rooms.
