Analysis of voltage profile in microgrids isolated by the insertion of non-conventional generation plants

The inclusion of electricity generation with renewable and environmentally friendly resources has been growing gradually with the advancement of technology today, especially in remote places where electrical systems have difficulty reaching the user, as is the case of Floreana Island in the Galapagos Archipelago. The interruption of the electric service and the availability for users depends on the autonomy and reliability of the electrical system based on the existing generation plants, whether of renewable resources or thermal groups installed on the island. Therefore, it is essential to make the most of available resources, whether solar radiation, wind, or others, continuously ensure a supply of energy to existing demand. Currently, the electrical system of Floreana Island has a photovoltaic plant, a thermal dual system, and a battery storage system. This paper proposes a case study in which the installed generation capacity in each generating plant with non-conventional renewable energies is increasing. The analysis was carried out software with the HOMER Pro, which demonstrated that the analysis site has excellent resources for power generation and MATLAB to determine the voltage profile behavior, being feasible to implement in the proposed case, improving the quality of the electrical supply on the island and displacing existing thermal generation groups.
