Model-based Strong Electromagnetic Pulse Protection Optimization Design of Wheeled Armor

The wheeled armor is faced with more complex external electromagnetic environment in the modern war, in which the threat electromagnetic environment led by strong electromagnetic pulse has the characteristics of narrow time-domain waveform and steep rising edge, high intensity and wide coverage, which poses a serious threat to the vehicle platform with high electronic and electrical integration. The EMP protection design of the whole vehicle platform needs the support of fast and accurate modeling methods to help designers analyze and evaluate the electromagnetic threat and complete the improvement and optimization. An innovative platform-level EMP protection optimization design scheme is proposed. This method is based on the vehicle level strong EMP effect model and takes electromagnetic protection and reinforcement measures for electrical discontinuities such as car windows, holes and gaps. The protection effectiveness of the vehicle platform is also compared and verified through simulation in the end of the paper.
