Fault Location in Ungrounded Neutral System with Distributed Generators

In response to the increasingly complex fault location problem caused by more and more access of distributed power sources to distribution networks, this paper proposes a fault location method based on the distribution characteristic of fault zero-sequence voltage. This method only requires the position of detection points and the zero-sequence voltage information at these points to construct reliable functions for the upstream and downstream sections. The fault location can be determined by the intersection point of these two reliable functions. This method has a simple principle, is economically practical, does not require the addition of extra equipment, and is adaptable to networks with distributed power sources.
