A Wearable Pressure Sensor for Human Pulse Signal Monitoring and HRV Parameter Assessment

The development of a wearable pressure sensor capable of achieving reliable and continuous detection of human pulse signals and assessment of heart rate variability (HRV) parameters holds significant importance in distinguishing between healthy individuals and patients with cardiovascular diseases, mental health issues, and more. In this study, we introduce a wearable capacitive pressure sensor using a sponge-like dielectric layer fabricated by a template-assisted ultraviolet-curable method. The proposed wearable capacitive pressure sensor demonstrates the capability of continuous monitoring of human pulse signals and analysis of inter-beat intervals (IBIs) as well as HRV parameters of volunteers, which holds promising potential for applications in human-machine interaction, personalized medical services, communications, and entertainment.
