Design of a Coupled-Fed Implantable Antenna

This paper presents a miniaturized implantable antenna working at ISM 2.4 GHz band. The antenna consists of radiation layer and a full ground plane. The radiation layer comes from a microstrip-fed rectangular patch half cutting at the middle line forming two parts. One part of the half cutting patch is direct fed and another one is coupled fed to obtain wide bandwidth. The proposed antenna is printed on a flexible
$70\ \mu \mathrm{m}$
thick polymide substrate with size of
$\mathbf{11}\ \mathbf{mm} \times \mathbf{16}\ \mathbf{mm}$
. The simulated bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 2.34 - 2.58 GHz covering ISM 2.4 GHz band.
