Measurement and Analysis of Materials EM Parameters for Aviation Cabin Scenario

Scattering and transmission properties related to the electromagnetic (EM) parameters of materials are important for understanding radio propagation. In this paper, a set of measurement campaigns are conducted to measure the electromagnetic parameters of three kinds of general aeronautical materials, including chromium molybdenum steel (Cr-Mo Steel), aluminium- 7A04 (Al-7A04) and phenolic resin at 55–65 GHz, aiming to explore the electromagnetic parameters of these materials at mmWave band. The results obtained in this paper are expected to offer guidance to get accurate channel models by ray tracing, which can help the design of the wireless communication network in the aviation cabin scenario at mmWave band.
