Subsea Micropiling Technology Development – Down-The-Hole Hammer Drill

Subsea anchors are necessary for the installation of wind farms, but the technology must be advanced to be suitable for the largest variety of seabed conditions. In this paper, we present a set of developments in subsea anchor technology, including the drilling equipment necessary and the design approach taken. We also present the results of testing completed throughout the design stage. The paper concludes with a discussion on the industrial scale solution and the effect the DTH hammer drill will have on that solution.
